About Me

Hi, I’m Brooklynn Knox! I’m a 2026 graduate of Hawkeye Community College, where I earned my Associate Degree in Graphic Design. I also have two small businesses on the side: BK Photography and BK Leather Co. Whether I’m behind the camera or crafting leather goods, I love bringing ideas to life.

I’ve been pursuing photography since 2020, though my passion began much earlier in middle school when my grandpa gifted me his Canon EOS 40D. That camera sparked a love for capturing meaningful moments that has only grown over the years.

I took two introductory photography classes in high school, but much of my growth has come from hands-on experience and self-teaching. After graduating high school, I upgraded to a Canon R6 Mark II to continue refining my craft and delivering high-quality images.

Throughout my journey as a photographer, I’ve had the opportunity to capture senior portraits, family sessions, and even a wedding. Each session has helped me grow creatively while allowing me to document memories that clients can cherish for years to come.

I began working with leather in late fall of 2023, my interest started in high school during a sculpture class. One of our projects involved creating a small leather wallet, where I learned the basics of cutting and hand-stitching leather. That experience sparked a deeper curiosity for the craft.

For Christmas in 2023, I received a leather working kit and began teaching myself new techniques, including dyeing and hand-carving designs into cowhide. Since then, I’ve continued refining my skills through hands-on practice and experimentation.

I’ve made multiple local and custom sales, including orders from Iowa and Minnesota. I also launched an Etsy shop to expand my reach, and have since sold pieces to customers in Texas and Illinois.
